PLAN AND CONSTRUCTION 1934 - 1950
• Pietro Lingeri

The building, a regular and symmetric parallelepiped, stands on a rectangular plot of land. The basic idea of the project is designing houses that, although gathered in a single building, maintain their independence. The sides of the principal front, which is recessed from the road, are open and the wide and deep balconies protect from excessive insolation, resulting from the south-west orientation.

The parapets of the balconies, which continue on the side fronts, are made partly of concrete and partly of metal, and are pierced by thin pillars joining the terraces. The rear front features the windows of service rooms and the vertical section of concrete-framed glass block that lets light flood into the stairwell, which is in the central position. The entrance hall, quite low and centrally located, is finished with marble slabs on floors and walls, while the ceiling is covered with black glass panels whose function is to optically expand the space.

In the 1950s, under architect Lingeri’s direction, the mansard was built on the roof level, thus changing the original configuration of the building.
