The basic idea of the project was to create an office building with its own character, leaving behind the habit of solving the issue with a simple, undifferentiated facade. Here, Gardella wanted to give the workplace an identity.
The office building rests on a large raised base and its characteristic shape consists of a central rectangular element (about 17 meters deep) with two square units connected diagonally to its ends (with about 35-meter-long sides).
The two square blocks house staircases, elevators, bathrooms and locker-rooms: so, the space of the central rectangular unit remains totally free from interruptions, including the pillars, and the offices may be laid out with the utmost flexibility.
On top, the office unit ends with an almost 4-meter-long overhang along the entire perimeter: the resulting spaces, that also get light from above, are mostly reserved for designers.
The base plate structure is made of reinforced concrete. The office unit is made of iron with pillars 12 meters apart and aluminum panoramic windows.
The evident overhang in the top section of the front is a clear reference to the Italian building, whose top completion defines the front and gives it order and proportion.
